2003 Scenic Legislative Agenda

·        A bill stopping the construction of new billboards statewide.

·        A bill requiring that at least 1% of TxDOT's budget for the construction, reconstruction and expansion of roadways be expended on landscaping using low maintenance trees and other non-invasive native plant materials.

·        A bill allowing a National Scenic Byways Program in Texas that will provide for additional federal funding for roads that are either aesthetically, culturally, archeologically, historically, or recreationally significant.  New billboard construction along scenic byways is prohibited.
