In the early part of 2000, area residents became concerned over increased traffic due to the rapid growth in this area. Living in an unincorporated area, they were concerned with the lack of representation for their community.
This concern was further fueled by Entergy’s proposal to erect high voltage electricity lines through the heart of the surrounding neighborhoods, endangering the health and overall quality of life for their residents. This threat moved four residents, Eileen Montgomery, Billy Thompson, Chris Hile and Nancy Gray to found The East 1488 Community Association. The concept behind the organization was to “speak with one voice” for area neighborhoods when issues arise that threaten their quality of life. MISSION STATEMENT June, 2003 |
